Stop Digging & Start Building – Manage Your Money

November 28, 2013

When times are hard and you  “run out of money” before “running out of month,”  we tend to feel a little strained.  When this happens month after month things can get pretty ugly.  This may not be the best time to  “go with the flow.”  Sometimes you have to fight your way out of a difficult financial situation to reclaim your equilibrium.

Shift your mind set from worry to wonder.  Go from thinking about poverty to thinking about prosperity.  Consider new partnerships and new possibilities.  Consult with successful people and competent professionals who can offer strategies, resources and perspectives to improve your situation.  If you are in a hole you do not want to be in, STOP DIGGING.  Begin to minimize outgo (spend less) and begin to maximize income (Earn more).  Image

You can begin reclaim control by creating a budget.  Check with your financial institution for tools you can use.  Presently (at the time of this post), there is an engaging video to help you get started on making a budget (The url was long so just click making a budget), sponsored by Bank of America.

You can employ a business idea, sell good stuff you no longer need online on sites like craigslist or in a yard sale.  It doesn’t have to be sexy.  Consider taking on a part-time job or business. Be resourceful. Do some research .  The following is an excerpt from IF YOU CAN’T CALM THE WATERS LEARN TO RIDE THE WAVES- HOW TO SUCCEED IN TURBULENT TIMES.

“Many resources and possibilities are at your fingertips to help you get started.   Visit the websites and blogs of business magazines like Entrepreneur Magazine and Black Enterprise Magazine.  [Check your library or borrow a copy of the magazine from a friend.  If you decide to buy, consider sharing subscriptions and costs, at least in the beginning.]  Business and finance are green; don’t be dissuaded if you are not Black or African American.  Great information and inspiration can be found there.  Visit other specialty sites as well.  Visit government websites like www.sba.gov  and http://business.gov/start/index.html .  Visit another of my blogs, http://www.harebrainedebusinesses.blogspot.com .  It is “freakin’ amazing” what is available.  Start today.”

You can do this.  Role up your sleeves.  Employ your self and/or your resources where you can.  Create, acquire assets and stop wasteful consumption.  Temporary reductions in spending while increasing avenues for generating income can reap impressive results.  “Inch by inch, everything’s a cinch.”  You can do this.  You CAN DO THIS. #prosperity #partnership

Access Higher Education FREE and Get Free Tutoring

December 30, 2012

More possibilities exist FREE if when you are ready to capitalize on them.  Between free courses on sites like Coursera and free tutoring on sites like Khan Academy you can really improve your ability to LEARN.  See Khan Academy explained by the founder.

So all you really need to do now is schedule your learning time like you have a fixed schedule.  Don’t worry you can adjust it as needed.  The benefit in scheduling is that you must then make a conscious decision to switch the time encouraging rescheduling over cancelling.

Go for it.  You can even host a class at your home or in a library room and work together.  Have fun with it.  Start a Learning Club.  To get actual college credit, after completion, some institutions will consider the certificate given upon successful completion as validation.  Other courses may provide the knowledge so you can take the CLEP test.  College Examination Program offered by the College Board, the same organization that provides the SAT (Standard Aptitude Test)

So what are you waiting for?  Just have fun with it and start now.  You can transform your life by continuing to learn.  The possibilities are endless.

What I do to start my day

December 16, 2009

On my best days as I prepare and commute I take time to pray, meditate and conduct affirmations and visualizations.  I don’t always do all of this but I usually do some semblance of it.  One of my new favorite rituals is to view my newly developed vision board.  I will continue to add and update but here it is for your viewing pleasure.  See my video short for an idea of how you can put your vision in front of you as well using this FREE online resource.  It is editable.  I may require a few myself here.  Plan your work and work your plan.
